Description
Two ceramic mugs, each a small landscape in glaze. The blue-and-green variant layers a pale misty field across the upper body, then lets deep cobalt and forest green drip in ragged peaks toward the base — the glaze pooling and freezing mid-motion, as if caught between sky and mountain range. The pink-and-yellow companion opens in dusty rose at the rim, dissolves into a white foamy band, then settles into warm amber and butter yellow at the foot — closer to a horizon seen through morning haze than anything a factory could schedule. Both mugs sit on a wide, slightly irregular cylindrical form with a looped handle that carries the same gradient as the body. The surfaces are matte-chalky where the glaze is thin, glassy and specular where it has pooled — the same object reads differently depending on the light falling on it. These are objects that reward being held rather than simply looked at.
Inspiration
Drip-glazed ceramic turns these mugs into tiny landscapes.
The unusual bit is the way the color refuses to sit still: blue melts into green like rain over hills, while pink and yellow drift together like a pale morning sky.
Their rounded cylindrical bodies and easy handles keep them firmly in breakfast territory. Fill one with coffee, tea, or warm milk, set it beside toast and a window, and the table suddenly has scenery.
Highlights
- Reactive drip glaze creates a gradient landscape — blue-green to cobalt on one variant, rose to amber on the other — that is unrepeatable across individual pieces
- Wide cylindrical form with a generously looped handle gives the mug a sturdy, sculptural presence on a table or shelf
- Glaze surface shifts between matte-chalky and glassy-specular within the same piece, making the texture visually active under changing light
- Available as a pair — the two colorways are designed to sit together, each one the atmospheric inverse of the other
- Presented in a branded gift box printed with an illustrated still-life scene, making the packaging itself a considered object
Notices
Because the glaze is reactive, each mug will vary in the exact distribution of color, pooling, and drip pattern. The pieces shown are representative of the colorway; yours will share the same palette but carry its own specific surface. This is a characteristic of the glaze process, not a defect. The organic cylindrical form may show slight asymmetry at the rim — again, inherent to the ceramic process and not a flaw. Colors are rendered as accurately as photography allows; monitor calibration may affect perceived hue.
