Description
A ceramic mug that reads less like a vessel and more like a cross-section of atmosphere. The reactive glaze moves from a pale, almost chalky rim down through a band of deep cobalt blue — speckled and blurred as though ink dropped into still water — before settling into a forest green at the base and along the curved handle. The interior continues the conversation: a pooled, mottled blue with faint greenish undertones that shifts with light and angle. The cylindrical form is deliberately irregular, the surface slightly rough to the touch, the proportions squat and grounded. No two pieces emerge from the kiln reading exactly the same.
Inspiration
Reactive blue-green glaze makes this ceramic mug read like a tiny weather system.
The mottled finish shifts from cloudy pale ceramic into deep blue and mossy green, giving the straight-sided shape a landscape-like edge. Its slightly irregular surface keeps it from feeling too neat, more studio shelf than standard cupboard.
Look inside and the color gathers darker at the base, like tea seen through rainwater. Use it for morning coffee, evening mint tea, or the mug you quietly claim before anyone else does.
Highlights
- Reactive glaze produces a landscape-like gradient — pale grey-white at the rim, deep speckled cobalt through the mid-body, and dark forest green at the base and handle
- Interior glaze pools into a layered blue-green field that changes in tone depending on light angle
- Cylindrical form with a gently irregular silhouette and a tactile, lightly textured outer surface
- Curved handle carries the same green-dominant glaze as the base, tying the composition together
- Each piece varies: the glaze reaction during firing ensures no two mugs are identical in pattern or color distribution
Notices
Due to the reactive glaze process, color distribution, surface texture, and interior pooling will vary between individual pieces. The variation visible in the interior macro image is characteristic of this glaze type and is not a defect. Minor surface irregularities are inherent to the ceramic form.
